Tim Albrecht launched Albrecht Public Relations in January of 2016 in a home office above his garage. Since then, he has built his company to nearly 20 clients, was named to the Iowa Association of Business and Industry’s Leadership Iowa class of 2016-17, and was selected as a 2017 “Forty Under 40” by The Des Moines Business Record. His PR efforts have been nationally recognized by the Associated General Contractors, the American Trucking Association and CNBC. He’s also co-founder of a bipartisan polling firm, Red America Blue America (RABA) Research.
Tim is a native of Ida Grove, Iowa, and a 2001 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Public Relations. He has worked with a number of political figures, including caucus campaigns as Iowa communications director for Gov. Mitt Romney in 2008, Iowa advisor to Gov. Jeb Bush in 2016 and an organizer in 30 Northwest Iowa counties as caucus field director for presidential candidate Steve Forbes in 2000. Albrecht served as the communications director to Iowa House Speaker Christopher Rants – where he oversaw the media and messaging efforts for GOP legislators, and was recruited in 2005 to assist FEMA in its communications efforts in the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
In late 2009 Albrecht joined former Gov. Terry Branstad’s campaign for governor to manage the campaign’s messaging, communications and social media efforts.
Following Branstad’s election victory, Albrecht was named director of communications for the Terry Branstad/Kim Reynolds administration. There, he managed the rigorous press schedule of the administration, and oversaw the messaging efforts of Iowa’s departments and agencies.
In 2012 Albrecht engineered the Iowa governor’s office victory in CNBC’s “Top States Twitter Battle,” defeating 49 other governors’ offices in the social media contest by garnering the most activity on behalf of Iowa’s governor and its business climate. He also pioneered the popular #SkypeYourSchool initiative, and led the Governor’s Web Standardization Committee to implement user-friendly design and functionality across all executive branch websites in Iowa, landing the Digital States Survey’s first-place Adaptive Leadership Award.
Following the governor’s office, Albrecht headed Redwave Digital, a full-service digital communications firm specializing in websites, design, digital video and animation, messaging and voter targeting.
In 2015, Albrecht coordinated Gov. Branstad’s longest-serving event, featuring “Face the Nation’s” John Dickerson as the event moderator. Read more about that event, including pictures and media coverage, here.
